Virtual reality is on the increase, and an increasing number of institutions are utilizing it. Similar to how smartphones and tablets have altered how we interact with friends and family, new technology can change how we think about and perform surgical procedures.


Several research indicates that virtual reality decreases pain and anxiety during surgical procedures. However, the impact of virtual reality on perioperative outcomes remains unclear. This study added VR to normal anesthesia and sedative protocols to minimize patient anxiety and enhance compliance. During both preoperative and intraoperative procedures, the VR headset was utilized. Thomas Jefferson University Hospital performed a randomized controlled experiment.
